Testimonials

Hi my name is Amy Munoz. I am a single mom. I have 2 children Delilah who is 1 and Joshua who is 11. Connecting Hands has done so much for my family. They have provided us with food. Including a Thanksgiving dinner. They even provided Christmas for my children that was above and beyond what I could do. They have also provided clothes and toys for us just because. If we ever needed anything they have given it to us. I am so thankful for this group. Before I came here my daughter and I where in a sober living home and my son was with family. I am on ssi and welfare so we struggle. Because of connecting hands we haven’t struggled. They help me do for my children what I cant and then some. We appreciate them so much.

I was invited to join a group called Connecting Hands OC from another pay it forward type group on Facebook. I remember how Connecting Hands seemed so much more friendly and comfortable. It took me a while to let my guard down, but once I did, I knew I found my new home and family.
I still can remember the day I met Roxanne. I was 30 weeks pregnant with my 3rd child. Exhausted both emotionally and physically. I met her in a store parking lot for a pair of shoes she was giving me for my 14 month old daughter Delilah that I showed interest on when she posted them. We just got out from a 2.5 week hospitalization and her shoes somehow got lost. My husband worked at Walmart and I was on maternity leave due to my high risk pregnancy. Money was beyond tight and we didn’t even have the $5 to buy my daughter a pair of used shoes. She got out of her car, greeted me, and gave me the biggest hug. I’m not sure if I just looked like I needed it, but it caught me completely off guard and it made my day. We spoke, she gave me some great advice, and we went our separate ways. I cried on the way home because I was so incredibly thankful. That experience is something my grandchildren will know about. A perfect stranger, helping another person with zero expectations. I’m so thankful for that one interaction. Unbeknownst to Roxanne or myself, she helped set my life in the right direction. I cant begin to explain how thankful I am to have Roxanne not only as a close friend, but my biggest mentor as well. Growing up my family struggled immensely. Summers we wore out school shoes until they wore out and we went barefoot after that. Some utility was always being cut off. Some nights we didn’t have dinner. Growing up there were lots of years where there was no Christmas presents or even a birthday cake. Connecting Hands has changed my life for the better. Its a sanctuary for me. Its a place I can be vulnerable and seek the help I need whether it be clothes for my kids, prayers and support, shoes for myself, food for my family, or furnishing an entire apartment while I’m going thru a divorce and overcoming being homeless. Connecting Hands has given me the strength and encouragement I needed to leave an abusive household situation, and return to work to help provide for my 4 children. I’m so thankful for this group, for helping me break the cycle of poverty and abuse that I experienced growing up Connecting Hands has built me up into the strong determined resilient woman I am today.

I’ve lived in California all my life with no family around. I used to work full-time but 2 years ago I lost my job so we decided staying home with my kids would be better but of course we lost my income. I came across Connecting Hands one day when I was looking for help purchasing diapers. No one knew me, no one had to help me. But they did. My family has been blessed so much with diapers, clothes for my kids, toys, even furniture for my home. Not only has Connecting Hands given me so much but they literally have pulled me out of a dark place when I couldn’t do it myself. Connecting Hands has provided me with a family I never had. Roxanne created a group that restored my faith in humanity. A group who shows love and kindness to strangers.

Connecting hands has been such a god send to my family it’s basically an extended family, when we were going through the process to take in three children from the foster system on top of the three that are our own. the administrators, donors, and members of connecting hands all helped me find everything I needed to get my house approved by dcfs and that I was on February 14th Valentine’s Day we were awarded custody of our three kids. This group has given all six of my children back packs, adopted them at Christmas which brought so much happiness to our kids as it was a hard year for us financially getting everything ready to take in these kids. Both my sons have learning delays and Roxanne gave me learning work books for them and lower level reading books for them so that I could help them catch up on their reading and writing, on top of that my oldest daughter received her favorite book series from the members of connecting hands to read in her spare time. We have been blessed with food when times have been rough and have done our best to give back or help out in our good days without this amazing group of individuals our lives would not be as full of all the joy and happiness that we are blessed to have. To the whole connecting hands family I could never thank you enough.

From Natasha:

Connecting Hands has been  not just an organization or group but it has been a resourceful, encouraging, helpful uplifting family. Where you can count your blessings by paying it forward from a simple prayer to birthday wishes, to picking up items or giving rides. Connecting Hands has blessed my family with furniture for our new home, food and clothes.  I have been able to have an amazing Christmas that my kids have not had. Connecting Hands is where I have met some very blessed people I can now call friends.

From Summer:

When I found Connecting Hands I was going through a hard time with my husband and home life. I found this great group of women that were so kind. I have 2 daughters and have come  from a troubled childhood so I always wanted to give my girls what I never had. Roxanne was so kind and the helpful. She offered me great advice while I was going through my struggles in my marriage and home life. The group is a safe place to ask for prayers and advice. The women are so supportive and kind. Connecting Hands has helped in so many ways from food to clothing to legal help. Today I am a single mother and it was the best choice I made for my girls. Connecting Hands provided a beautiful Christmas party for everyone that we were blessed with being able to attend last year. There are so many blessings that come from the group and so many wonderful women! The volunteers are so sweet and kind and the women I’ve been able to meet are so generous. This group is such a blessing in so many ways. I am so grateful for being a part of it.

Connecting Hands is a 2nd family for my family and I. I’ve been in this family for 2 1/2 & I don’t know what I would have done if I hadn’t joined their family. I see each & every person as a special sister in our family. Connecting Hands means the world to me. I have met the most humble, compassionate souls and hardworking individuals. My family and I hve been very blessed to be blessed with many countless items for ourselves and our home. There has been many times where we were blessed with home made meals from other members just to have dinner for the day after a long day at work. This is absolutely priceless and it means the world to us. The love and kindness in this family is immensely huge. There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t think about my 2nd family. My only desire is to help day after day but at times it’s not close to that but I do definitely pray for each and everyone daily. Connecting Hands is my life. I have gained many close relationships with friends in this family and their pain is my pain as I can also relate to many who struggle just as much as me. Connecting Hands was and has been with me when I needed a hand the most. Connecting Hands is my family and will always be. I thank God everyday for the creator of this family/group aka Roxanne who is always there when in need in every way, shape, and form  🙂 .
